About the Orchards
Rockit Management Services (RMS) farm approx 350Ha of orchards located across the outskirts of Napier and Hastings. Our orchards contain a range of growing systems including FOPS, 2D, 2D conversions, standard and intensive spindle, mainly on M9 or CG202 root stock along with legacy blocks on 793 and 106 root stock.
About the role
This rare management opportunity for an experienced horticultural leader to showcase your leadership skills. We’re passionate about growing apples and our people and the successful applicant will become part of our unique and industry leading team.
This opportunity will lead our Crown orchard sector team which is made up of blocks located in the Puketapu and Matapiro areas.
Duties include:
· Develop and oversee the implementation of orchard management plans
· Lead and develop staff and contractors, promoting a positive work culture
· Ensure quality standards and health and safety requirements are met
· Manage the full range of orchard tasks and ensure efficient use of resources
· Establish effective relationships with the RMS management team, the wider business, and stakeholders
Skills and Experience Required
Applicants will ideally have:
· Extensive experience in the pip fruit industry and sound knowledge of horticultural practices
· Excellent leaderships skills with a people first mindset
· Grow Safe and Approved Handler certification
· National Certificate or Diploma in Horticulture
· Strong organisation and project management skills
· Experience developing and managing budgets and business reporting
A positive attitude and flexibility regarding work hours and a full driver’s licence are essential. We pride ourselves on being a drug free environment and all potential employees will need to pass a pre-employment drug test.
